Bedrooms at Becketts

We offer 8 delightful en-suite bedrooms at Becketts. Our 6 original rooms are situated over the first and second floors of our 200 year old townhouse and our 2 more recently created Mews Rooms are situated on the ground floor accessed via our secluded secret courtyard garden mews entrance in Dartmouth Mews.

Each room has been meticulously designed to maximise the space (our rooms are smaller than some yet beautifully formed) with large flat screen TV’s, tea and coffee facilities, “Simba” supercomfortable mattresses, en-suite shower/wet rooms and a secure room safe. Each room has it’s own private Wi-fi which is of course free of charge and we can also provide contactless check-in for late arrivals.

We welcome our guests to enjoy some quality drinks from our well-stocked bar, while away a few hours in our super cosy snug (with roaring log burner in the colder months and board games) and recharge in our courtyard dining room where we serve breakfast. Our welcoming staff will make every effort to ensure your stay is memorable and will go the extra mile wherever possible. We also serve freshly made coffees and quality teas.

Becketts is situated very close to the 3 mile long seafront and Southsea Common. Gunwharf Quays (luxury outlet shopping with multiple bars, restaurants, cinema, bowlplex, marina, etc) and the Historic Naval Dockyard are both within easy walking distance as is Southsea Town Centre. Portsmouth is a city that enjoys excellent travel links be that mainline trains or coaches from the nearby Hard Interchange or ferries to the Isle of Wight, France and Spain. Dont forget the hovercraft to Ryde on the Isle of Wight – a memorable day out. Portsmouth has been building a reputation as a turnaround and calling cruise port, impressing visitors with its world-class attractions and welcoming back established cruise companies. We are just a few minutes drive from the cruise terminal with guests able to check-in 24/7 (contactless out of our usual hours).

Please note that our while our rooms are not all large, they are well-appointed and very comfortable. The restrictions of being within a Listed Building meant that we were not permitted to install double glazing, air-conditioning or a lift. Our bedrooms are therefore sadly not accessible to guests with restricted mobility. We benefit from a lively bar and host regular functions and events so hotel guests are advised that they may be able to hear music on some evenings through to around 11:30pm.

This is a fabulous little bar with rooms – 6 in all, I believe – clearly recently revamped and very pleasingly decorated. The style is ski-chalet-meets exposed brick lounge bar-meets New England beach house and it really works!

The bar area itself is comfortable and chic, with some lovely seating areas. The breakfast room has a fabulous glass light well ceiling and loads of natural daylight. Our bedroom (no 3, I think) was a good size and the bed and pillows were comfortable. Tea and coffee making facilities were great and replenished daily.

Great little boutique hotel and bar situated a stones through from Southsea seafront.
We stayed in room 1 , very clean and comfortable. Lovely Mia looked after us for breakfast which has a limited menu due to no kitchen on site but like the rest of this hotel everything is of a high quality.

Loved the look and decor of the hotel. Bed very comfortable. Breakfast was nice, fresh items. Great cocktails. Denny and Felix do a top job. Easy to walk from train station and to seafront and Gunwharf Quays.

Very stylish small hotel in great location. Room was a good size and very clean. Staff were friendly and helpful. We were able to park on street directly across from the hotel. We have stayed at other hotels in Portsmouth over the last 3 years and this was definitely the best. We have booked to stay twice more later in the year.
